Wedding Engagement

Alyssa + Jason's Engagement Photos

Being a Kalamazoo photographer means I’m right in the middle of Detroit and Chicago and I’m always willing to do a little traveling to photograph some of these great people and places between! Here’s a few from Alyssa and Jason’s engagement session in downtown Detroit. We started at The Skip and ended at Belle Isle. Can’t wait to photograph their wedding coming up in May of 2022!

Stacey and Dominic's Wintery West Michigan Engagement Photos

These two are getting married on August 29, 2021 at the beautiful Gable Hill Barn in Southwest Michigan. I think it’s safe to say the temperature on their wedding day will be a bit different from their engagement session experience in Kalamazoo last weekend! It was 15° F and windy but I’d say we pulled off some great shots and had some fun doing it!

Being a photographer in Kalamazoo never seems to disappoint. We strolled around the Kalamazoo Mall, got a much needed coffee from Caffe Casa, explored a snow apocalypse on top of a parking structure, and headed to a nearby field to end the session with them wrapped up in a blanket. Check out a few highlights from their session!

Kate & Brad's Kalamazoo Engagement Session

Kate and Brad are getting married at Bay Pointe Inn on Gun Lake in July of 2021! We got together back in September for a really fun engagement session in downtown Kalamazoo. They started off the session by sitting down for a quick drink at Principle’s outdoor dinning area. We went for a walk around the Kalamazoo Mall and ended the session on top of a parking structure as we watched the sunset over downtown Kalamazoo. Check out a few highlights from the session!

Katie + Patrick's MSU Engagement Photos

Katie and Patrick really nailed it when they came out with me to the campus of MSU! These two will be getting married on July 25th with the ceremony at St Catherine of Siena in Portrage, MI with the reception following at the Kalamazoo Country Club. I look forward to photographing their wedding day! Check out a few highlights from their engagement session.

Iana + Terry's Engagement Session

Can’t decide between WMU campus and Van Buren State Park? Let’s do both! We started on the campus of Western Michigan University at Heritage Hall with a few fun shots in front of the building, we even had time for a quick aerial shot. We then crossed the street to Vandercook Hall (one of my favorite buildings on campus) for some really cool images of the ivy covered brick walls. We also made a quick stop at the fountains behind Miller Auditorium before heading out to Van Buren State Park for sunset on the dunes over Lake Michigan. Also, I may or may not have led them down the wrong path and up a large, unnecessary dune, in the dark, on the way out…as we were eaten alive by mosquitos… Check out the awesome stuff we got!

Lindsey + Tim at Rawson's King Mill County Park

Lindsey & Tim! Wow, I love your natural interaction with each other and how these photos turned out! Tim grew up down the street from Rawson’s King Mill County Park, so it just seemed like a great idea to shoot there, and I’m sure glad we did! These two will be getting married next October at the Blue Heron Barn in Kalamazoo. Can’t wait to photograph their wedding! Check out a few highlights from their engagement session…

Riley + Jessica's Southwest Michigan Engagement Photos

Riley and Jessica met me at the Portage Creek Bicentennial Park last weekend for their engagement session. We had a beautiful spring day with lots of sunshine! It’s funny, I always get the same spiel from couples right before we begin the shoot. Usually something like, “We’re awkward and not very good at having our picture taken” (most people are not very comfortable in front of the camera). So my job is equally divided between getting couples to loosen up, have fun, making them laugh, and taking their photos at the same time. Well, I clearly didn’t have any trouble getting real laughs and smiles out of these two, scroll down to see a few highlights from the session!

Kelly + Kristen's Boyne Mountain Engagement Session

I love Northern Michigan! So anytime I get a chance to photograph a wedding or engagement session up there, I jump at the opportunity. I met Kelly and Kristen up north at Boyne Mountain Resort for their engagement photos. I was anticipating an overcast day, which is great for portraits, but was met with full sun. We hiked into nearby woods in search of shade and scenery and we were not let down. We came across a forest full of snow covered pines, and a beautiful stream. With the help of some paracord tied to a snow covered branch, I was able to simulate a little snowfall for a few photos. After hiking out of the woods, we headed back to the ski lodge where we took more photos near the fireplace and in a quiet little library. Check out a few of the highlights…

Julie + Cole's South Haven Engagement Photos

Julie and Cole couldn’t decide on how they wanted their engagement photos to look, so we scheduled two sessions! Their first session was in the Fall on the Kalamazoo Mall, just a bit different than this second session out on the frozen pier of South Haven. Julie and Cole’s wedding is in September with the ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo and the reception at Cityscape on the Kalamazoo Mall. Here’s some of the results from our cold day in February on Lake Michigan…
