Melissa + Evan's Marriage Proposal

It all started when Melissa decided to take Evan's hat from him when they were kids.  They've both been showing horses since a young age, even competing against each other.  With so many memories at the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds, it just made sense for that to be the special place where Evan would propose to Melissa.  He lead her in blindfolded, got down on one knee in the middle of a heart made of flower pedals, and asked her to marry him.  I'm so glad Evan asked me to be his photographer!

José + Michelle's Wedding, Wow!

I could photograph these two forever!  I think it's true that happy people attract happy people.  These two never stop laughing!  I learned this from photographing their engagement session last year in Kalamazoo.  From that moment, I knew I was going to love being their wedding photographer.
The day started with breakfast for both wedding parties at separate locations.  The groomsmen at MI Mosa in Farmington and the Bridesmaids at French Toast Bistro in Plymouth.  We then met back up at the Hilton Garden in Plymouth were the bride and groom finished getting ready.  The wedding ceremony and reception took place at Laurel Manor in Livonia.  Check out a few highlights from the night!

Heather + DJ Get Married!

This is why I love backyard weddings!  The intimacy and closeness of all these people is something to envy.  The friends in the wedding party all went to Parchment High School together, which is when Heather and DJ started dating 15 years ago!  The guys all went to elementary school together!  They had about 12 people on each side, making for an enormous wedding party, which also means a lot of help and support in the planning and getting ready for a wedding.  It may have been close to 100 degrees outside in the hot sun, but it didn't stop these close knit friends from celebrating Heather and DJ the way they wanted to!  Congratulations you two!  Check out a few highlights from their wedding this past Saturday in Parchment...

Sabrina + Anthony South Haven Outdoor Wedding

Sabrina and Anthony had a small intimate backyard ceremony in South Haven, Michigan.  It was just the right size.  The property was beautiful with walking trails through the woods, lined with lights and photos of the bride and groom.  There were also a lot of chickens running around!  This was a fun wedding and a nice break from the "traditional" wedding.  I even got to use the drone for a few fun aerial photos of the wedding party and property.

Heather + DJ Wedding Engagement

These two!  This is why I'm a wedding photographer... We're counting down the days until they say "I Do".  Their wedding day is just a week away so here's a little summary of their engagement photos.  All images are captured on the campus of Western Michigan University.  We started at Heritage Hall, formerly East Hall, where we played around with photos on the steps, at the tall columns of the building, and overlooking Kalamazoo.  Then we moved to the front of the building in the tall grass and eventually across the road to Vandercook Hall, one of my favorite buildings in Kalamazoo.  It's so beautiful with all the ivy covering the face of the historic building.  See for yourself!

Luke Winslow-King at the Buttermilk Jamboree Music Festival

Just a little highlight from Luke Winslow-King at the Buttermilk Jamboree Music Festival in Delton, Michigan last night.  What an amazing show!  It's performances like these that make me so grateful to have the opportunity to photograph this event.  Enough said, check out the photos from his set!

Buttermilk Jamboree Michigan Music Festival

Here's a few highlights from past events at Circle Pines Center in Delton, MI.  I love when I get hired to photograph events like this!  These intimate little Michigan music festivals, like Buttermilk Jamboree, are perfect places to bring the entire family.  It's a very family oriented, kid friendly music festival, with plenty to do for children and adults.  Don't even get me started on the amazing local food served here!  Anyway, I'm too excited to sleep so here's a little highlight from last years event.  I leave in the morning to pick up my press pass and start documenting this years 2018 Buttermilk Jamboree event.
