Natalie & Bill were married in Panama City Beach, Florida back on May 8, 2018. I wasn’t able to go with them to photograph the ceremony but I did have the honor of capturing their wedding reception which was held on December 8, 2018 at the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan in Kalamazoo. Here’s just a few highlights from the evening. Congrats you two!
James and Justine came home to Michigan to be married with their friends and family present in early October. I’m sure it was hard to give up the scenery of Washington but they found a beautiful venue in Southwest Michigan at the Lawton Community Center. There were plenty of photo ops throughout the grounds, including a pretty sweet wine cellar/museum in the basement, and they gave me plenty of time to come up with some good material! Congrats to you both and I hope our paths cross again someday!

Karen & James were married yesterday in Southwest Michigan at the Blodgett Wedding Barn in Schoolcraft! This was my first time at this venue and I’m obsessed! It’s a beautifully renovated barn with two spacious areas for the bride and groom to get ready, amazing farm tables for the reception, and plenty of dance floor area. The ceremony site just outside the barn has a beautiful backdrop of field and trees, the property also has rows of trees and plenty of great scenes for portraits. We got to do a cool “hidden first look” with both bride and groom in the photo without them seeing each other. I’m so happy for these two, congrats Karen and James!

Tom and Kelly were married last weekend in Holland, MI. Kelly and her bridesmaids got ready in a beautiful home on Lake Michigan. For their first look, Tom arrived at the house and stood on a deck facing the lake, waiting for Kelly. We then headed out for the barn ceremony in Holland. Kelly came down the aisle riding sidesaddle on Charley the horse. After the ceremony, we all headed up to the loft of the barn for the reception where everyone took part in dancing and celebrating their love!
Last weekend, Bruce and Morgan were married at the Crystal Mountain Resort in northern Michigan. After getting ready, we ascended one of the ski hills for a first look of the bride and groom. Their ceremony was held outdoors in the forest setting of the Michigan Legacy Art Park. I was lucky enough to have spent the day with these two and see their excitement for each other and this day unfold. What a beautiful Michigan setting for a wedding and portraits! It was such an honor to photograph Greg and João's wedding on Friday. What a fun wedding and stunning ceremony! The event was held at The Jolly Pumpkin on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, MI. The Grand Traverse Bay provided an amazing back drop for the ceremony while they stood on a grassy hill to say, "I do" in front of their closest friends and family. The reception was filled with love, laughter, smiling faces, and lots of dancing. I'm so lucky to be a wedding photographer and to witness once in a lifetime moments like these!
I could photograph these two forever! I think it's true that happy people attract happy people. These two never stop laughing! I learned this from photographing their engagement session last year in Kalamazoo. From that moment, I knew I was going to love being their wedding photographer.
The day started with breakfast for both wedding parties at separate locations. The groomsmen at MI Mosa in Farmington and the Bridesmaids at French Toast Bistro in Plymouth. We then met back up at the Hilton Garden in Plymouth were the bride and groom finished getting ready. The wedding ceremony and reception took place at Laurel Manor in Livonia. This is why I love backyard weddings! The intimacy and closeness of all these people is something to envy. The friends in the wedding party all went to Parchment High School together, which is when Heather and DJ started dating 15 years ago! The guys all went to elementary school together! They had about 12 people on each side, making for an enormous wedding party, which also means a lot of help and support in the planning and getting ready for a wedding. It may have been close to 100 degrees outside in the hot sun, but it didn't stop these close knit friends from celebrating Heather and DJ the way they wanted to! Congratulations you two! Sabrina and Anthony had a small intimate backyard ceremony in South Haven, Michigan. It was just the right size. The property was beautiful with walking trails through the woods, lined with lights and photos of the bride and groom. There were also a lot of chickens running around! This was a fun wedding and a nice break from the "traditional" wedding. I even got to use the drone for a few fun aerial photos of the wedding party and property.
So excited to be Michelle and Josè's wedding photographer this July. They will be getting married at Laurel Manor in Livonia, MI July of 2018. I had to post a few highlights from their engagement shoot last Fall. We did two engagement sessions and working with them was really fun, they made my job so easy. I really didn't give much direction, most of their poses were very natural and they laughed together through the entire session. Our first session was in Glenn, Michigan at a local vineyard. We found an old barn to shoot in, then walked through the vineyard for the rest of the session. The second shoot took place at Lincoln Park in Chicago, IL.
